The leather is soft, easily moldable, and already pre-broken-in. For an adult playing softball or baseball for fun this mitt is great. It's comfortable, has good cushion and still seems to be well stiched and laced. It may not last a lifetime, but for the price it is an excellent value. The only negative I would point out is that the wrist closure is a little tight for me, but I have fat wrists.
